Punya Mishra shared in his video, Intro to TPAC, the concept that, “technology changes how we teach and What we teach”. Students around the word have access to to information through search engines, online videos, social media, phones and computers they bring to school, as well as things like online courses. Mishra discusses that this change in technology changes our pedagogy, how we teach, as well as what we teach, the content, in all subject matter. With technology students have access to not just one version of for example the periodic table as Mishra shares, but many different versions of the same periodic table in different forms that can be accessed through this advance in technology. Teachers therefore need to know what needs to be taught, how to teach it and the technology tools that make this happen.
Creating this prototype for my ideal future product (Baseball Recruiting 101- website) was a really interesting process. Having been a high school athlete, college level athlete, professional athlete, high school coach and now a college coach, I feel like I have a strong idea about what tools are helpful at each level. As I have transitioned through each of these phases during my baseball career, whether I was looking to be recruited as a player or I was the coach recruiting for my own team, I found that I was constantly needing to learn a new tool or resource. Based on these experiences, I decided I wanted to create a comprehensive website for anyone in the baseball recruiting world. As I began this process I thought it would be easy to create a prototype, as I have always had many ideas about what I would want in this type of website. However, I had never sat down and mapped it out like this, and it was surprisingly more difficult than I anticipated. One thing that was really beneficial in creating my prototype was writing out my Table of Contents. I had success creating this because it helped me focus in on specific aspects of the website, and go into detail about each component. Once the Table of Contents was done, and I had a clearer vision of my website, and creating the actual prototype was much easier.
